A Council-led study in China
shows that low-birth-weight infants (who suffer higher rates of death,
disability, and impaired development than larger babies) have higher
blood levels of phthalates than heavier newborns. (more)
Council associate
Nafissatou Diop has been appointed to the World Health
Organization's Gender and Rights Advisory Panel for the period
2010–2012.
Saiqa
Mullick, senior associate in the Council's South Africa office, has been
appointed to the World Health Organization's Expert Advisory Panel on
Sexually Transmitted Infections including those due to Human
Immunodeficiency Virus.
The Council is a
collaborator in the Male Circumcision Partnership, which is
launching a massive scale-up of voluntary male circumcision services in
Swaziland and Zambia. (more)
